Originally part of the Frank Jones Brewery, a 19th-century industrial powerhouse that once employed hundreds and helped shape Portsmouth’s economy – The Hawthorn occupies what was known as the Scald House, a building used to clean the ale’s oak barrels with scalding hot rocks before they were filled and shipped around the country. Today, that same spirit of craftsmanship and purpose lives on, reimagined for modern gatherings. The building’s rich industrious character, paired with thoughtful restoration and design, makes it an inspiring choice for companies and organizations looking to host meaningful events.
