It Starts with the Ring. Our Favorite Jewelers on the NH Seacoast
Because the jewelry deserves as much intention as everything else.
You’ve dreamed up the flowers, the menu, the playlist for the first dance. But before any of that unfolds, there’s the ring — the one that started it all, the one that rarely leaves your hand. Here on the NH Seacoast, you don’t have to settle for a big-box experience or a mall case behind glass. What you’ll find instead is something far better: small businesses with decades of craft, owners who actually know your name, and jewelers who understand that a piece of jewelry is never just a piece of jewelry. It’s the beginning of a story. Here are the ones we love.
01
Kaya’s Jewelers
Portsmouth, NH · Newburyport, MA
Since 1991, owners Kerim Kaya and Belinda Buchanan have quietly built one of the most thoughtfully curated jewelry collections on the Seacoast — and the word “quietly” is doing a lot of work here, because the results are anything but understated. Their Portsmouth flagship and sister location in Newburyport offer a range that spans modern solitaires, artistic statement pieces, and everything in between. But what really sets Kaya’s apart is the custom work.
This is a family-run business in the truest sense — not a brand identity, but a way of operating. Kerim and Belinda work one-on-one with clients from concept to completion, guiding the design process with the kind of patience and expertise that only comes from decades of doing this for people you genuinely care about. If you have a vision, a heirloom stone, or even just a vague sense of what you want, they will help you get there.
What They're Seeing in 2026
Elongated shapes — oval and emerald cuts — are having a major moment, as are mixed metals, sapphire center stones, and couples who want to be deeply involved in the design process. Individuality is in.
Shopping at Kaya’s also means supporting local artisans and keeping craft alive in a city that has always valued it. Every piece begins with a story. This is where yours gets made.

Elizabeth Henry Collection
Portsmouth, NH
If you have a soft spot for jewelry that feels like it belongs in a museum — and also, somehow, on your hand every single day — Elizabeth Henry is your person. A Seacoast native and Graduate Gemologist trained at the prestigious Gemological Institute of America, Elizabeth brings an almost architectural precision to her work as a partner at Market Square Jewelers. Her collections draw from defining design eras: Art Deco geometry, Edwardian romance, the glamour of the Retro years. Some pieces are cast from authentic antique molds. All of them feel like they were made with intention.
What makes the Elizabeth Henry experience especially compelling is the commitment to accessibility — everyone deserves a piece they truly love, regardless of budget, and the team takes that seriously. They’ll explore options, refine, revisit. There’s no rushing here. A ring, as they put it, should bring lasting joy — not just sparkle.
What They're Seeing in 2026
Emerald and oval cuts remain the shapes of the moment. Lab-grown stones are increasingly popular alongside natural diamonds, and clients are gravitating toward one-to-three carat weights — substantial, but made for real life.
The workshop is in Dover, just minutes from the showroom, staffed by local artisans whose work Elizabeth stands behind personally. Custom design is where the collection truly shines — whether you’re reimagining a family heirloom or starting completely from scratch.
03
Springer’s Jewelers
Portsmouth, NH · Bath, ME · Portland, ME
A fourth-generation family jeweler with locations across New Hampshire and Maine, Springer’s is one of those places that earns the word “legacy” without having to say it. Walk in, and you’re greeted with coffee and refreshments — a small gesture that sets the tone for an experience that is elevated, personal, and refreshingly unhurried. They’ve been doing this long enough to know that finding the right ring takes time, and they’re happy to take it with you.
Springer’s is particularly known for exceptional diamonds, vintage and estate pieces, and the kind of custom design work that results in something genuinely worth passing down. Their philosophy is to help couples create jewelry that grows alongside them — pieces that feel right at the beginning and somehow even more right decades later.
What They're Seeing in 2026
Bolder, more metal-forward designs are trending — think substantial bezel settings and architectural bands. Antique cuts, colored gemstones (sapphires and emeralds especially), and stackable wedding bands that build a personalized look over time.
The collection balances heritage and modern sensibility beautifully, with vintage-inspired silhouettes sitting alongside contemporary geometric settings. If your aesthetic falls somewhere between “heirloom” and “editorial,” Springer’s is worth the trip.
04
Quicksilver Fine Jewelry
North Hampton, NH
Forty years. Women-run. Seacoast institution. Quicksilver has been helping couples find meaningful jewelry since long before it was trendy to shop small, and the experience shows in every interaction. The team works closely with each couple — guiding, listening, collaborating — until the design feels exactly right. Both the engagement ring and the wedding band. Both people in the relationship.
Speaking of wedding bands: Quicksilver carries one of the most extensive selections of men’s wedding bands in the region, from classic gold and platinum to contemporary metals with distinctive modern finishes. They also have a wide range of sample bands available to try on in-store, which is exactly as helpful as it sounds.
What They're Seeing in 2026
Simpler, elegant engagement rings with meaningful personal touches: hidden halos, engraved details, colored gemstones, unique center shapes. Yellow gold is back in a big way. Wedding bands are becoming more expressive — mixing textures, metals, and styles to create something that complements but also stands on its own.
The custom design process here is truly collaborative, and the results show it. If you’re the kind of couple who wants something that couldn’t have been made for anyone else, Quicksilver is where you go.
05
Summerwind Jewelers
Portsmouth, NH
Over fifty years. Founded in 1972 in Ogunquit, Maine, by Melvin Reisz, and now in its second generation of family ownership under his daughter Sara Reisz Sargent, Summerwind has grown into one of Portsmouth’s most beloved and storied jewelry destinations. Their Market Street showroom — the “forever home” since 1995 — has been thoughtfully expanded twice, and today it’s home to a core team with over 65 years of combined experience, including two in-house jewelers who handle custom work and repairs on-site.
One of the more quietly radical things about Summerwind: the showroom is organized by price. No pressure, no guessing games, no moments where you pick something up and wonder if you’re about to be embarrassed. It’s a small thing that makes a significant difference, and it reflects the store’s broader ethos of transparency and welcome.
What They're Seeing in 2026
Wider, heavier gold bands are replacing the once-popular delicate solitaire. Alternative diamond colors — yellow, brown, champagne — are gaining momentum for their warmth and romance. And couples are increasingly requesting bands with shared design elements that still feel distinctly individual.
Classic bridal pieces remain perennial favorites here: diamond studs, tennis necklaces, and bracelets in white metals that work as beautifully on the wedding day as they do for years afterward. Summerwind is the kind of place you walk into as a customer and leave feeling like a regular.
The Ring Is Just the Beginning
The NH Seacoast doesn’t do things halfway — not the food, not the architecture, not the community, and certainly not the jewelry. Every shop on this list represents decades of craft, deeply personal service, and an investment in creating pieces that outlast trends and hold meaning long after the wedding day.
Whether you’re designing something entirely bespoke, hunting for a vintage piece with history already baked in, or simply walking in with no idea where to start, the right jeweler will meet you where you are.
And when you’re ready to celebrate everything that ring represents — the planning, the people, the party — you know where to find us.
Historic brick, soaring ceilings, and a design-forward edge in the heart of Portsmouth’s West End. The Hawthorn is ready when you are.
